The largest and liveliest of the three Gili Isles, also nicknamed the Gili “T”. The port is located in the southeast of the island, where the busiest part is full of bars, restaurants and shops. All around you can go by bike in about half an hour. More peace is in the north of the island, where you need a flashlight for the night. There are no cars or motorbikes on the island, you can move on foot, by bike or by horse carriage. Cat lovers will be thrilled, because they are everywhere. There are sandy beaches around the island, but there are corals in the water, so the shoes are perfect for the water. The sea is calm and the waves are only tiny. You can snorkel or dive along the coast.
How to get to Gili T?
Gili Trawangan can be reached from Lombok or Bali by a fastboat. These are most often departed from Padangbai and the journey takes about an hour and a half. It is possible to see dolphins along the way with great luck. One way costs about 200,000 Rp. A shuttle bus can also be arranged on the return trip, which will take you from the port to any of Bali’s destinations.
You can also visit the Gili Air minor islands or the smallest Gili Meno.
